Hearing Test Overview
Visit MOATTI hearing screening test is designed for pediatric examinations of children of 6 months to 2 years. It facilitates the early detection of hearing abnormalities, essential for the development of language and neuro-psychological development. Unidentified deafness can seriously affect language learning, possibly leading to mutism.
Technical specifications
- Contains 4 cylindrical boxes emitting sounds imitating animal cries (bird, cat, sheep, cow).
- Staggered frequencies: severe (sheep, cow), medial (cat, ~1000 Hz), acute (bird, > 2000 Hz).
- Constant intensity of approximately 60 decibels à 2 meters, equivalent to speech.
- Covers the hearing field of 250 to 3000 Hz, necessary for speech perception.
How to use
- Handle at about 2 meters of the child, out of his sight (behind him or hidden).
- Possibility of muffling the sound in the hand to sensitize the test.
- Observe reactions: head/gaze orientation, surprise, joy, fear, stopping sucking or crying.
- Optimal conditions: low-noise environment, respect for age groups (6 months to 2 years).
Interpretation of results
A reaction to each box under good conditions indicates a satisfactory hearing. A lack of response to high frequencies may suggest a sensorineural deafness. When in doubt, a balance sheet ENT and audiophonological is required. Warranty: 1 year.
